Bizios Estate
About us
Surrounded by lush green vineyards, in the valley that is shaped between the mountains of Ziria and Gavria is found the architecturally tasteful building of the winery, equipped with the most modern means that exist in the technology of the wine industry.
Just a short distance from Nemea and the legendary Stymphalia (where the oenophile Hercules accomplished his first two feats), Elias Bizios built his winery on the edge of his vineyard and it reflects the everyday life of the grape in the wine he produces.
The privately owned vineyards of 10 hectares extend to an altitude of 850m in the village of Asprokampos, at the highest point of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Nemea. The grapes are a product of organic viticulture from vineyards with low output per acre, as to achieve the best possible concentration of characteristics per variety. The time of harvest is carefully selected, in order to achieve the correct maturation of the grapes.
The varieties cultivated on the estate are: Agiorgitiko, Chardonnay, Moschofilero and Malagousia.
Elias Bizios is the son of a viticulturist born and raised in Asprokampos, Nemea, a mountainous village that has an altitude of 900 meters. His choice to deal with the family vineyard was almost a one-way street, since his love for the earth and the fruit of the vineyard did not leave him any other options.
All the fermentations are carefully monitored. The small capacity temperature controlled stainless steel vats allow separate vinification per varietal. Red wines are aged in French and American oak barrels in the underground cellar under controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
The wines of the winery are the genuine expression of the unique terroir of Asprokampos and blend the old with the new keeping the tradition alive in the
present day. The organic vineyard with absolute respect to the environment is ideally reflected within the organic wines it produces.
